Welcome to Staymates, a shared living management application. By using our Service, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, please do not use the Service.
1. What is Staymates?
Staymates helps roommates, couples, and families manage household activities including bills, chores, lists, calendars, reminders, and financial tracking.
2. Your Account
- Provide accurate information when signing up (email, Google OAuth, or Apple Sign-In)
- Keep your account credentials secure
- One account per person - no sharing accounts
- You're responsible for all activity on your account
3. Premium Subscription
Pricing
- Monthly: $5/month
- Yearly: $30/year
Prices may vary by region. Taxes may apply.
How Subscriptions Work
- User-based subscription - When you subscribe, premium benefits apply to your current household
- Subscription follows you - If you move to a different house, your subscription moves with you and benefits your new household
- Any member can subscribe - When any household member has an active subscription, all members get premium access
- Auto-renewal - Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled 24 hours before renewal
- Managed through app stores - All billing handled by Apple or Google, not by us

Free Trial
- 30-day free trial available for first-time subscribers
- Trial is per user, not per household
- If you've previously subscribed to Staymates Premium, you are not eligible for another free trial
- No charge during trial period - cancel anytime
- After trial ends, you'll be charged unless you cancel
Managing Your Subscription
- iOS: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions
- Android: Google Play Store > Account > Subscriptions
- Cancel anytime - access continues until end of billing period
- For refunds, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support
4. Free Tier & Advertisements
Free Tier Limitations
- Maximum 2 ads per day - Free users will see up to 2 advertisements per day
- 5-minute cooldown between ads
- Limited lists: Up to 3 shared lists
- Limited calendar: View current and next week only
- Basic features only: No receipt uploads, PDF exports, or advanced scheduling
Advertisement Types
- Standard ads (up to 2 per day) displayed via Google AdMob when navigating the app or accessing certain features
- Rewarded ads (optional) - Watch an ad to temporarily unlock premium features once per day per feature
- All ads served through Google AdMob
- Opt-out of personalized ads in your device settings
- Premium subscription removes all ads completely
5. Acceptable Use
You May:
- Manage household bills, chores, lists, and calendars
- Collaborate with actual housemates or family members
- Store legitimate household information
You May Not:
- Use the Service for illegal purposes
- Share your account with non-household members
- Attempt to access others' data or disrupt the Service
- Create fake households or manipulate bills fraudulently
- Attempt to block, disable, or manipulate advertisements on free tier
- Reverse engineer or decompile the app
- Abuse rewarded ads or attempt to circumvent daily limits
6. Your Data & Privacy
- Household sharing: Bills, lists, and activities are visible to all house members
- You retain ownership of content you create
- House data persists even if you leave (for other members and settlement integrity)
- Subscription data: Your subscription status is tied to your account and follows you across households
- Privacy protection: See our Privacy Policy for details
- You're responsible for accuracy of financial information you enter
7. Service Availability
- We strive for high uptime but cannot guarantee 100% availability
- Maintenance may occur with or without notice
- We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice
8. Disclaimers & Limitations
- Service provided "as is" - no warranties
- Not responsible for: Calculation errors, disputes between housemates, or third-party ad content
- You must verify all financial information and settlements
- Our liability is limited to amounts you paid in the past 12 months
- Rewarded ads: Temporary feature unlocks are granted as-is; we don't guarantee availability of rewarded ads at all times
9. Termination
- You can delete your account anytime through app settings or by contacting us
- Cancel subscriptions through your Apple or Google account
- We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms
- Your personal data will be deleted; shared household data may be retained for other members
- Subscription follows deletion: If you delete your account, your subscription will be cancelled; manage cancellation through app stores to avoid charges
10. Changes to Terms
- We may update these Terms with 30 days' notice for material changes
- Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms
- Check the "Last Updated" date at the top
11. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the full agreement
- Third-party services: Apple, Google, and AdMob have their own terms and policies
- Severability: If any provision is invalid, the rest remains in effect
- No assignment: You cannot transfer your rights without our consent
